Activating a Return Request transaction only creates a Warehouse Transfer moving the stock from the current warehouse to the Returns Warehouse when that Returns warehouse is NOT the current warehouse. The stock is moved and a journal is created ONLY where the Return Codes are RG - Return Goods and EX - Exchange of Goods only. No other return code results in a movement of stock or a journal at this stage.
